The Alfa Theatre brings a probe into the soul of Generation Alpha.
How do current schoolchildren from Pilsen and other places in the region think and live? What do they like and dislike? What makes them happy and what makes them sad? What do they miss the most and what do they have left? What adventures do they experience? How do they experience relationships with parents, grandparents, siblings and friends? What do they think home is? And also: What superpower would children like to have? What would they do if they had a million? And what would they take with them to a desert island?
The preparation of the entertaining poetic cabaret has been going on for three years. Why so long? Because part of the preparation of the production is a long-term survey in schools in Pilsen, Rokycany, Štěnovice or Stod. Namely, if there is to be a cabaret for children and about children, it is good to learn as much as possible about them. And the best thing is to ask them directly.
And so Petra Kosová talked to the children about the world, about family, about friends... It turned out that some things don't change, whether you were a child in the seventies, nineties or at the turn of the millennium and when you are a child today. And some things have changed a lot, after all, the world has changed too. The influence of social media is enormous, the heroes of books, films and series are changing, and it is also clear that children are much more well-traveled, and their tastes are more global. For example: do you know what food is among the most popular? You'd be surprised, it's sushi, which previous generations of children would probably look at with disgust. But they are also pancakes, a perennial from time immemorial. Some things change, some things remain. For example, the fascination with jellyfish. Is it really new?
A poetic cabaret is based on recordings of children's stories, their creative writing, but also on high-quality contemporary Czech poetry for children and other sources, which aims to appeal to children, their parents and also educators.
